Therefore, long-term monitoring of these parameters provides fundamental information on ecosystem changes with climate change. As part of the monitoring programs of the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition (JARE), water temperature, salinity, chlorophyll-a concentration, macro-nutrients (nitrate, nitrite, phosphate, and silicate), and photosynthetically active radiation at the sea surface have been measured onboard the icebreakers Shirase and Fuji by JARE-7 during the 1965/66 season and by JARE-14 during the 1972/73 season, respectively. This report presents the latest data collected during the Shirase cruise in the 2016/17 season.</description><jtitle>Polar Data Journal</jtitle><volume>4</volume><spage>97</spage><epage>120</epage><dateofissued>2020-09</dateofissued><publisher>National Institute of Polar Research</publisher><issn>2432-6771</issn><source>http://dx.doi.org/10.17592/001.2020070701</source><textversion>publisher</textversion><fullTextURL>https://pdr.repo.nii.ac.jp/?action=repository_action_common_download&amp;item_id=31&amp;item_no=1&amp;attribute_id=22&amp;file_no=1</fullTextURL><rights>CC BY</rights><fullTextURL>https://pdr.repo.nii.ac.jp/?action=repository_action_common_download&amp;item_id=31&amp;item_no=1&amp;attribute_id=22&amp;file_no=2</fullTextURL><rights>©️ 2020 National Institute of Polar Research</rights><fullTextURL>https://pdr.repo.nii.ac.jp/?action=repository_action_common_download&amp;item_id=31&amp;item_no=1&amp;attribute_id=22&amp;file_no=3</fullTextURL><rights>©️ 2020 National Institute of Polar Research</rights><type>Marine biology</type><date>2020-08-25</date></junii2>
